Within the realm of the SoS project, a postdoctoral position of a duration of up to 18 months is available, to work with Hugo Parlier and Jean-Marc Schlenker at the Mathematics Department of the University of Luxembourg. (Within the same project, our partners in Nancy and Marne-la-Vallée also have postdoctoral positions available; see here and here.)
Candidates in fields of mathematics (geometry, topology) and/or computer science (discrete and computational geometry and topology) are sought. The unifying theme of the project is combinatorial aspects of surfaces and their moduli spaces, broadly understood. For more details on the SoS project, see the precise topics on the SoS project webpage.
Further collaborations with our other partners of this project in Nancy (Monique Teillaud, Vincent Despré, Sylvain Lazard) and Marne-la-Vallée (Éric Colin de Verdière, Alfredo Hubard, Lionel Pournin) will be highly encouraged. Travel funds for regular visits at the partner institutions will be provided. Furthermore, the successful candidate will be expected to apply for additional 3rd party funding to extend the postdoctoral position.
Applications received before January 15th, 2019 are ensured to receive full consideration but the postdoc position will be open until a suitable candidate is found. The start date of the beginning of the contract is flexible, between mid-2019 and September 2020.
The candidate must have completed their PhD before starting the contract. Interested candidates should contact Hugo Parlier by email and provide
